Running FAQ
General
What do you think about when you run?
Ahhh yes, my most frequently asked question. I started a Twitter thread in hopes of answering this question. If that still doesn’t answer it for you then perhaps we just need to go for a run sometime!
How often do you run?
I take days off here and there, and sometimes I’ll have to take an extended amount of time off to recovery from races or injuries, but for the most part I run just about every day.
How many miles do you run a day?
This is another one of my most asked question. I hate giving this answer, but really it depends! Are you asking daily? Weekly? Daily, my more casual runs are between 5 and 11 miles, workouts can range anywhere between 9 and 13 miles, and long runs can be as short as 13 miles or as long as 24 miles. Weekly, my mileage range tends to sit between 70 and 85 miles.
When did you start running?
I started as a junior in high school when I joined the cross country team in the fall of 2010.
Do you have a coach?
Yes! I work with Patrick Reagan who was also my coach through college.

What shoes do you run in?
I do most of my training in the HOKA ONE ONE Clifton. For racing marathons, I’m a fan of HOKA’s Carbon X. For shorter stuff (5km – half marathon) I’m a little less particular, but recently I’ve been rocking the Adidas Adizero Adios.
What watch do you run with?
I run with the Garmin Forerunner 235. I like GPS watches, but prefer them to be on the simpler side. The 235 has served me well so far.
Do you run with your phone? If so, how do you carry it?
For the most part, I do not. If I’m running home from work or if I’m out of town in a place I’m not familiar with, then I will bring my phone with me. In those cases, I use a RooSport magnetic running pocket.
